Working Principle Description
The principle of separating air by zeolite molecular sieve depends on the different diffusion rates of oxygen molecules and nitrogen molecules in the air in the micropores of zeolite molecular sieve, or different adsorption forces or the simultaneous action of the two effects. Under the condition of adsorption equilibrium, the adsorption capacity of zeolite molecular sieve for oxygen and nitrogen molecules is close. However, under the condition of adsorption kinetics, the diffusion rate of oxygen molecules into the micropores of molecular sieve is much slower than that of nitrogen molecules. Therefore, through appropriate control, nitrogen molecules are adsorbed in the solid phase of zeolite molecular sieve and oxygen molecules are enriched in the gas phase in the time away from the equilibrium conditions. At the same time, the capacity of zeolite molecular sieve to adsorb nitrogen molecules increases with the increase of its partial pressure and decreases with the decrease of its partial pressure. In this way, the zeolite molecular sieve adsorbs nitrogen molecules during pressurization to enrich oxygen molecules, desorbs nitrogen molecules during decompression and discharges them into the air. Such repeated circulation operation can achieve the purpose of air separation.
